2021/22 Military Season Pass Products & Pricing

What's new for the 2021/22 Season?

United States Armed Forces and Canadian Armed Forces Verification process will be initiated within the checkout flow of the military pass purchase. Depending on your status with the military, this may happen automatically or there may be some additional documentation needed in order to verify your eligibility. You will be required to verify prior to purchase for all military pass products.

Vail Resorts is offering the following Military Pass options for the 2021/22 season:

Military Epic Pass – Active/Retired/Registered Dependent 

  • Access to all 37 Owned & Operated Resorts*, including: Vail, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb, Breckenridge, Park City, Keystone, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Stowe, Crested Butte, Okemo, Mount Sunapee, Stevens Pass, Wilmot, Afton Alps, Mt. Brighton Mount Snow, Attitash, Wildcat, Crotched Mountain, Hunter, Liberty, Roundtop, Whitetail, Jack Frost, Alpine Valley, Big Boulder, Boston Mills, Brandy Mills, Brandywine, Mad River, Hidden Valley, Snow Creek, and Paoli Peaks for the 2021/22 season, as well as Perisher, Falls Creek, and Hotham in Australia for the 2022 ski season.
  • Military Epic Passes do not currently include partner resort access for the 2021/22 season, and thus will not provide access to Telluride, Sun Valley, Snowbasin, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies (Fernie, Kicking Horse, Kimberley Alpine Resort, Nakiska, Mont Sainte Anne, and Stoneham), RusutsuHakuba Valley-Japan, or European Partners.

Military Epic Pass – Veteran/Dependent

  • Liberty Pass holders receive 50% off window rate tickets at other Vail Resorts owned and operated resorts including: Stowe, Breckenridge, Park City, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Northstar, Crested Butte, Okemo, Mount Sunapee, Stevens Pass, Wilmot, Afton Alps, Mt. Brighton, Mount Snow, Attitash, Wildcat, Crotched Mountain, Hunter, Liberty, Roundtop, Whitetail, Jack Frost, Alpine Valley, Big Boulder, Boston Mills, Brandy Mills, Brandywine, Mad River, Hidden Valley, Snow Creek, and Paoli Peaks for the 2021/22 season, as well as Perisher, Falls Creek, and Hotham in 2022 ski season.

Is there child pricing on the Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass?

Yes. The Military Epic Pass for Veterans and Veteran Dependents includes pricing for children under 18 years of age. The Liberty Pass includes child pricing for United States Armed Forces dependent children under 18 years of age.

  • Note: The Military Epic Pass for Active and Retired Military and their Dependents is for any Active or Retired military member or their dependents, including child dependents.

Will you be offering a Senior Military Pass?
No, we will not be offering a Senior Military Pass, as the Military Epic Pass and Liberty Pass are the best value for access to all of our resorts for all qualifying guests.

  

Will kids 4 and under continue to ski for free?
Yes, kids 4 and under will continue to receive free lift access when accompanied by an adult.

The 4 and under pass goes on sale during Spring prior to the ski season. To be eligible for this pass for the season, the child must be 4 years old at time of purchase. If the child turns 5 after Labor Day or throughout the ski season, they are still eligible for this pass.

2021/22 Military Season Pass Eligibility

What military branches are eligible for the Military Epic Pass and Liberty Pass offerings?

In the United States, this includes anyone currently serving in, or veterans of, the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, Army National Guard, U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve, U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve, Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserve.

  

The Military Epic Pass offering also includes service members from Australia and Canada – details on military eligibility and verification process for the Canadian Armed Forces can be viewed here and for the Australian Defence Force can be viewed here.

  

Who qualifies for the Military Epic Pass for Active/Retired Military and their Dependents?

In the U.S., the following military personnel and their families qualify for a Military Epic Pass:

  • Active Duty (full-time): A person who is currently serving on active duty in the military full-time (serving on Title 10 orders for 30 days or more).
  • Reserve & Guard Forces: A person in the Reserve or National Guard is not full-time active duty military personnel, although he or she can be deployed at any time should the need arise. Members of the Reserve & Guard are eligible for the Military Epic Pass (Active/Retired/Dependent) if they are currently serving in the Reserves or National Guard (serving on Title 32 orders). (This offer does not apply to members of the IRR – Individual Ready Reserve.)
  • Retired: A military retiree is any former member of the military branches above who is entitled, under statute, to retired, retirement, or retainer pay. Examples include, but are not necessarily limited to, spending 20 or more years in the military, or permanent retirement by reasons of physical disability.
  • Active/Retired/Reserve/Guard Forces Dependent: Registered Dependents of Active/Retired Military members, including spouse and child dependents. Parents of military members are not included, as well as children who are no longer dependent. Definitions for age/eligibility requirements are defined by the military and Department of Defense. For active/retired dependents, all should have or qualify for DD Form 1173. Definitions for age/eligibility requirements are defined by the military and Department of Defense*.

Who qualifies for the Military Epic Pass for Veterans and Veteran Dependents?
In the U.S., the following military personnel and their families qualify for a Military Epic Pass:

  • Veteran: A person who served in the active military and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.
  • Dependent: Veteran Military member's spouse and any child dependents. Parents of military members are not included, nor are children who are no longer dependent. Definitions for age/eligibility requirements are defined by the military and Department of Defense*.

What are age/eligibility requirements of Child Dependents in the Military?
Registered dependents aged 16+ will verify their passes using their own credentials and registered dependents under the age of 16 will verify their passes using their military sponsor's credentials. Children and spouses of veterans will verify their passes using the veteran's credentials.  


What if I am a service member or dependent in Australia or Canada?
Service members and their dependents from Australia and Canada are eligible for the Military Epic Pass offering. They are not included in the Liberty Pass offering. Details on military eligibility and verification process for Australian service members can be viewed here, and for Canadian service members can be viewed here.

Who qualifies for the Liberty Pass?
In the U.S., the following military personnel and their families qualify for a Military Epic Pass:

  • Veteran: A person who served in the active military and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.
  • Active Duty (full-time): A person who is currently serving on active duty is in the military full-time.
  • Reserve & Guard Forces: A person in the Reserve or National Guard is not full-time active duty military personnel, although he or she can be deployed at any time should the need arise. Members of the Reserve & Guard are eligible for the Military Epic Pass (Active/Retired/Dependent) if they are currently serving in the Reserves or National Guard. (This does not apply to members of the IRR – Individual Ready Reserve.)

I am a qualifying Military Dependent. What if the service member doesn’t buy a Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass? Will I still be able to?

Yes, we want to honor all families who have members who are serving or who have served. With proper dependent verification, you and your family can still purchase the appropriate Military Epic Pass (for United States Armed Forces and service members of Australia or Canada and their dependents) or Liberty Pass (for United States Armed Forces and dependents only).

  

Are any other country’s military organizations eligible?

Members of the United States Armed Forces, the Canadian Armed Forces, and the Australian Defence Force are currently eligible for the Military Epic Pass.

  

2021/22 Military Season Pass Verification and Fulfillment Process

Why do I have to go through a verification process?

This offer is exclusively reserved for the men and women of the United States Armed Forces (for the Military Epic Pass and the Liberty Pass), as well as service members from Australia and Canada (for the Military Epic Pass), and their qualifying dependents. To ensure eligibility, we require a military status verification process.

  

How will verification work?

United States Armed Forces Verification process will be initiated within the checkout flow of the military pass purchase. Depending on your status with the military, this may happen automatically prior to purchase, or there may be some additional documentation needed in order to verify your eligibility. You will be required to verify prior to purchase for all military pass products.

What kind of proof is required if I am not instantly verified?

Below is a list of approved forms of military identification:

  • DD214
  • Orders
  • VA ID
  • Official letter
  • LES dated within 90 days

  

What happens if I cannot prove my affiliation?

All military organizations give its members some kind of official document that we'll accept, but in the event you are unable to provide us with an acceptable proof of affiliation, we will not be able to verify you and cannot offer you access to the Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass. Please contact your season pass expert at (970)754-0088 to upgrade to one of our other season pass options.

I purchased my Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass online but have not yet received the actual pass. Can I access the eligible resorts?

Yes, bring your Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass confirmation and photo ID to any Vail Resorts owned-and-operated Pass Office to redeem a day pass. The release of liability must have been completed for your Season Pass to be active, and you must have successfully completed the military verification process. What if I am Active duty (or in the Reserves/Guard) and get deployed and am unable to use my pass?

Epic Coverage is included with all passes, and provides refunds associated with certain personal events, including illness, job loss, injury, and deployment. If you are unable to use your pass during the Core Season because after you purchase your pass, you or your Domestic Partner are called to military service, your military leave is revoked, you are deployed or you are reassigned to a different duty station that is 100 or more miles further away from any resort covered by your pass than your current assigned duty station, you may be eligible for a refund. The amount of your refund will vary based on how many days you have used your pass and whether you have a General Season Pass or a Fixed Season Pass. What happens if I lose my pass?

If you lose your Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass, please go to your local lift ticket window or contact a season pass expert at (970)754-0088.

Are there any restrictions on the Military Epic Pass?

Partner access is not included. For more information on resort access, please see above or visit Epicpass.com/military

  

Does the Military Epic Pass provide access to the same international and domestic partner resorts that are on the Epic Pass?

No, not at this time. 

  

What if I want International or Partner access?

If you decide you want to ski at Telluride, Sun Valley, Snowbasin or at our international partner resorts, you may upgrade your pass to the full access Epic Pass at any time prior to the start of the ski season. Please call your season pass expert at (970)754-0088.

  

Will I be able to buy discount lift tickets to partner resorts such as Telluride, Sun Valley, Snowbasin and international resorts not included on my Military Epic Pass?

No, there will not be any discounts on partner resorts for military season pass products.

  

Are there any restrictions on the Liberty Pass?

For eligible members of the United States Armed Forces and their immediate families, the Liberty Pass gives you access to Keystone resort. 

  

Do the 2021/22 Military Epic Pass and Liberty Pass products include discounts on rentals, ski school and lodging?

What are Ski-With-A-Friend Tickets and how many do I receive?

As a valued Military Epic Pass holder or Liberty Pass holder, both of these passes will come with 6 discounted, single day lift tickets loaded onto your Pass for friends and family. Ski-With-A-Friend Tickets vary in price based on the date you plan to visit and can be purchased at all valid resort ticket windows. The Season Pass holder must be present at the time of purchase.

  

Will the Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass offerings have Buddy Tickets?

No, Buddy Tickets will not be offered on Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass. All Military Pass offerings will have 6 Ski-With-A-Friend Tickets.

   

What are the Summer benefits at Vail Resorts for Military Epic Pass holders?

If a Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass is purchased in the spring in U.S and Canada, you will receive 2021 summer lift access at all Vail Resorts owned and operated resorts. Summer lift access is for sightseeing only and does not include bike haul. For more information, please visit www.epicpass.com.

  

2021/22 Military Season Pass Purchasing

When can I purchase a Military Epic Pass (Active/Retired or Veteran) or Liberty Pass?

Passes went on sale in March 2021.

  

Where can I purchase a Military Epic Pass (Active/Retired or Veteran) or Liberty Pass?

Please visit www.epicpass.com/military for information on how to purchase your Military season pass for next season. Guests are encouraged to purchase their season pass as early as possible to get the lowest price on your season pass. 

  

If I paid $49 down, when is my balance payment due?

The final balance for your Season Pass(es) will be charged in mid-September. 

  

Are the Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass refundable?

No. Season Passes are non-transferable and non-refundable.

  

How does Epic Coverage work for the Military Pass offerings sold on EpicPass.com?

Epic Coverage is included for all pass holders, and provides refunds associated with certain personal events, including illness, job loss, and injury. It also expands coverage to protect you from certain resort closures. Please refer to the Epic Coverage Terms and Conditions which are available for viewing or downloading here.

  

How do I sign up for Epic Coverage?

What if I am Auto Renewed into another Epic Pass product, but qualify for a Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass?

If you are Auto Renewed into another pass product, but qualify for one of the new Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass products, you are able to exchange into the Military Epic Pass or Liberty Pass. Please call a season pass expert at (970)754-0088.

  

Are the Military Pass offerings (Military Epic Pass and Liberty) eligible for Auto Renew?

YesThe Military Epic Pass for Retired and Veteran military memberis eligible for the Auto Renew program. This offering does not extend to adult or child dependents of retired or veteran military personnel and is not offered to active military personnel or their dependents.
