What is the My Epic app?

My Epic will serve as a one-stop app offering lift access, real-time resort updates, personalized stats, account information and so much more at Vail Resorts’ 36 owned and operated U.S resorts. Most notably, My Epic will include a new Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Ticket technology that allows guests to store their pass or lift ticket directly on their phone, and get scanned, hands free, via Bluetooth® technology specifically designed for low energy usage. This reduces the need to carry a plastic card, visit the ticket window or wait to receive a pass or lift ticket in the mail.


When will the new app be available?

The NEW My Epic app will be available in the fall of 2023.


Will My Epic app have all the same functionality that EpicMix had?

The My Epic App will have the same functionality that EpicMix had with new and upgraded features that will make your on-mountain experience even better. Most notably, My Epic will include a new Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Ticket technology that allows guests to store their pass or lift ticket directly on their phone, and get scanned, hands free, via Bluetooth® technology specifically designed for low energy usage.

The My Epic app will offer features to make sure you have the best possible experience on the mountain:

What resorts can I use the My Epic app at once it is available?

The My Epic app will be functional at Vail Resorts’ 37 owned and operated North American Resorts.

The Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Ticket feature in the My Epic app will be available at the 36 owned and operated resorts in the U.S including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Crested Butte, Park City, Stevens Pass, Kirkwood, Northstar, Heavenly, Mount Snow, Stowe, Okemo, Hunter Mountain, Mount Sunapee, Attitash Mountain Resort, Wildcat Mountain, Crotched Mountain Resort, Liberty Mountain Resort, Roundtop Mountain, Whitetail Resort, Jack Frost, Big Boulder, Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, Laurel Mountain, Wilmot, Paoli Peaks, Snow Creek, Hidden Valley, Brandywine, Boston Mills, Mad River Mountain, Mt. Will I need to download the My Epic app once available if I already have the EpicMix app?

No, if you already have the EpicMix app on your device there is no need to download another app. If you have automatic updates turned on, once the My Epic app becomes available the app will automatically update on your device with your regular app updates.


Will EpicMix still be available once the My Epic app is available?

If you currently have EpicMix, once the My Epic app becomes available it will automatically update on your device.


Will my stats history transfer over to the My Epic app from EpicMix?

Yes, your stats history will transfer from the EpicMix app into the new My Epic app once it becomes available prior to the 2023/24 winter season.


Will I be able to use the My Epic app on my smartwatch?

If you enable notifications for the My Epic app, you will be able to receive those on your smartwatch. The My Epic app will not, however, have a smartwatch specific app available this season (similar to EpicMix which also did not have smartwatch capabilities).

Will I need to take my phone out of my pocket to scan my Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket in the lift line next season?

No, you will not need to remove your phone from your pocket when accessing the lifts. The My Epic app’s “Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Ticket” technology will allow guests to store their pass or lift ticket directly on their phone, put their phone in their pocket, and get scanned, hands free, using specific Bluetooth® technology designed for low energy usage.


Does the My Epic app need to be open in order for my pass to work?

Each guest will need to log in to the app and complete the prompted setup instructions, before their first Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket can scan at a lift. Afterward, the app can be minimized and will function in the background.

Keep in mind, if you force a shutdown of the app, you’ll need to re-launch the app for Mobile Pass & Lift Ticket to scan at a lift.


At which resorts can I use the Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Ticket features in the My Epic app? Will it work at partner resorts like Telluride & Resorts of the Canadian Rockies?

The Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Ticket features in the My Epic app will work at Vail Resorts’ 36 owned and operated U.S. resorts. The app, Mobile Pass, and Mobile Lift Ticket will not be supported at any Epic Pass partner resorts such as Telluride or Resorts of the Canadian Rockies.

The Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Ticket features of the My Epic app will not be available at Whistler Blackcomb for the 23/24 season. That being said, we hope to expand to Whistler Blackcomb in the following year, and all other app functionality will be available at Whistler Blackcomb this season.


Will I still be able to use my physical media card to access lifts if I don’t choose to use Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket?
Yes, you will still be able to use your physical media card if you choose to do so.


Should I expect to receive a physical media card for the 2023/24 season?

Guests who are new to a season pass or Epic Day Pass this season, are switching pass types from the previous season, or purchasing advanced lift tickets online will receive a physical media card in the mail after purchasing for the 2023/24 season. If you choose, you can use the Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket functionality on the new My Epic app to access the lifts this season.


How do I get my pass or lift ticket on the app once My Epic is available in the fall of 2023?

Once you create an account in the My Epic app, the pass or lift ticket associated with your email account will appear in the app. Any passes or tickets you purchased for other people or passes associated with your account can be sent from the app via text to those pass holders to download and setup their own My Epic accounts.


What should I do if my phone runs out of battery — can I still get a physical pass or lift ticket?

Keep in mind that the Bluetooth® technology used in the My Epic app is designed for low energy usage. That being said, we are also looking to add additional charging stations in-resort in convenient locations, and guests are always welcome to visit our ticket windows to get a physical card printed.


If I or my children don’t use a smartphone, what are some other options for lift access?

Guests will still be able to use their physical media cards to access the mountain.

 

How do I activate my Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket?

Simply log-in to the app. The user has to be logged-in to the app for the Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket feature to work. If a user doesn’t remember their log-in credentials, there is a forgot username and forgot password function within the app.

The user should then go to the “Pass” or “Lift Ticket” tab in the app and see their lift access product. If they don’t see their lift access product, they are most likely logged into the incorrect account, and should use the “Can’t find your pass” link to find the account tied to their pass.

Once a user is logged in to the correct account, they can simply put their phone in their pocket and they should be good to access the lifts.


How do I know if my Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket is ready to scan?

If you go to the “Pass” or “Lift Ticket” page, the user should see a green checkmark indicating they are ready to access the lifts. If they do not have the proper access for the mountain (for any reason, including the pass or lift ticket is not eligible for the mountain, holiday dates, ran out of EDP days, etc.) the app will indicate that they aren’t eligible for lift access that day and state the reason why or ask the guest to seek out support.


Can my phone scan the passes or lift tickets for my entire family?

No, each Pass Holder or ticket purchaser will need to have their own pass or lift ticket, using Mobile Pass, Mobile Lift Ticket, or a physical card. All passes and lift tickets associated with your email account that you purchased for other guests will be able to be sent via text or email to other guests for their use once they download the My Epic app and set up accounts.


What happens if my Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket is not working?

The My Epic app will have Live Chat functionality to help troubleshoot any issues, as well as staff in resort who will be able to assist you with troubleshooting.


What if I forgot my login information?

If you have trouble logging into your account through the My Epic app or on epicpass.com, you can follow the steps to re-set your password or call our call center for assistance at (970) 754-0005.

If I’m using Mobile Pass or Mobile Lift Ticket, will my stats still be tracked in the My Epic app?

Yes, but please ensure you have your GPS tracking enabled on the app.

ABOUT THE MEMBERSHIP

What is My Epic Gear and what does it include?

My Epic Gear is a new membership program that provides the best benefits of gear ownership but with more choice, lower cost and no hassle. At the beginning of the season, My Epic Gear members can select a favorite model of ski or snowboard and that gear will be tuned and available to them every day, at any participating resort, guaranteed.

My Epic Gear will have 15 different leading brands and more than 50 of the most popular and latest ski and snowboard models available, including personalized recommendations to help guests determine the right gear for their needs. My Epic Gear’s customized boot fittings will leverage scanning technology, and members will have access to name brand, high-quality boots with insoles for a customized fit. Members can also opt out of choosing boots, if they prefer to use their own.

In addition to choosing their favorite gear for the season, guests can also sample from the most sought-after brands and models of skis and snowboards for all terrains, weather conditions and skill levels, subject to availability. My Epic Gear will collect guest feedback throughout the season and will recommend the best options for a guest based upon their experience level, conditions, and the latest equipment choices, as well as reviews from members in the program.

My Epic Gear members will have their chosen gear delivered to where they are staying in-resort, and every day have the benefit of slopeside drop-off and pick-up, eliminating the need to haul gear to and from or around the resort.

The My Epic Gear experience will be completely managed seamlessly on the company’s new My Epic App, eliminating the need to ever step foot in a store. Members will select their favorite gear in the app, and where and when they want it every day.

 

How much will My Epic Gear cost?

A full season My Epic Gear membership for adults will cost $50, which will unlock the benefits of all the premium gear and convenience and enables daily gear reservations for $50 per day (which is less than the average daily cost of owning gear for a destination guest and less than the price of premium demo rentals). Child pricing will be introduced as part of the full launch of the program for the 2024/2025 season.

 

When and where will My Epic Gear be available?

My Epic Gear will officially launch ahead of the 2024/25 winter season, with planned availability at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Whistler Blackcomb, Park City Mountain, Crested Butte, Heavenly, Northstar, Stowe, Okemo and Mount Snow. Further expansions are expected in future years.

A limited number of Epic Pass Holders will have the opportunity to pilot the membership at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone during the 2023/24 season.

 

How does the My Epic Gear membership work?

Guests will be able to manage their entire My Epic Gear experience at their fingertips on the My Epic app – from gear selection to boot fit to personalized recommendations to delivery. An up-front fee unlocks membership all season long, and a daily usage charge will be applied for the specific days the member uses gear.

Members choose a specific model of ski or snowboard that will be available to them throughout the season. Members then just need to let us know when and where they want it one week prior to their trip. Gear can be delivered in-resort or picked up and dropped off slopeside every day.

Members always have the option to sample from a broader selection of brands and models, based on availability.

 

How long does a My Epic Gear membership last?

Membership will last the duration of the winter season at participating resorts.

 

How do I sign up for My Epic Gear?

When My Epic Gear officially launches ahead of the 2024/25 season, it will be available in the My Epic app. More details will be available closer to launch.

ABOUT THE GEAR

What gear is available?

My Epic Gear will have 15 different leading brands and more than 50 of the most popular and latest ski and snowboard models, in addition to more than 60 boot fit combinations.

The gear available will cover all ability levels, from beginner to expert, and all terrain types – from groomers to all mountain to powder. More details will be available prior to the 2024/25 winter season.

 

What type of gear is included in my membership?

The My Epic Gear membership will include skis or a snowboard, bindings, boots and poles. Members can opt out of boots if they choose to use their own. Helmets can be included for an additional charge.

 

Am I guaranteed to be able to ski and ride on my favorite gear?

Yes, all members will have the opportunity to choose a specific model of ski or snowboard that will be available to them any day throughout the entire season, with guaranteed availability as long as it is booked at least one week in advance of arrival.

 

What if I want to try new skis or a new snowboard every day?

Trying new skis or snowboards is simple with My Epic Gear. Initiate a gear swap via the My Epic app, choose the product you would like to sample from available inventory, and select the location and time you would like to pick it up. Next day swaps can be fulfilled at one of our designated in-resort locations or via slopeside valet. For same day swaps, please stop by one of our in-resort locations and we’ll find you a great ski or snowboard to ride from our available inventory.

 

How many uses will gear in the My Epic Gear program have?

My Epic Gear will offer the latest equipment to its members, expertly maintained and tuned. The bulk of gear will be current year products, with select gear having minimal usage from the prior year.

 

Will the gear be tuned?

Gear will be expertly tuned (edged and waxed between guests), so members will always have the opportunity to ski and ride on well-maintained gear.

 

What if I don’t know which skis/snowboard to pick? How does My Epic Gear recommend a ski or snowboard for me?

When you sign up, My Epic Gear will collect information about your height, weight, ski/snowboarding ability, and the type of terrain and conditions you prefer. My Epic Gear will collect guest feedback throughout the season and will recommend the best options for a guest based upon their experience level, conditions, and the latest equipment choices, as well as guest reviews from members in the program.

 

Can I bring my own boots?

Yes, members can choose to use their own ski or snowboard boots and still experience all the other benefits of My Epic Gear.

 

Will My Epic Gear be available for children?

My Epic Gear child pricing will be announced ahead of the 2024/2025 winter season.

 

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

How will my skis/snowboard/boots be delivered to me?

Members can select if they want their gear delivered to a specific in-resort address (hotel, condo) or ready for them at a slopeside valet location. As an example, guests could have their boots delivered to their in-resort condo and have their chosen skis/ snowboard conveniently waiting slopeside. At the end of each day, members can leave their skis/snowboard at designated slopeside valet locations and continue to pick-up and drop-off at these locations for the duration of their trip. This eliminates the need for members to haul their gear to and from the resort each day.

 

How far in advance do I need to book my gear?

My Epic Gear members can choose the gear they want that will be guaranteed for the entire season when and where they want it. Once members select their favorite gear at the beginning of the winter season, they should reserve their gear for specific days at a specific resort at least one week prior to their arrival date.

My Epic Gear members always have the option to book any gear – across the 15 different leading brands and more than 50 of the most popular and latest ski and snowboard models – based on availability up to the day before they plan to use the gear.

 

If I don’t want my gear delivered, how can I get my gear?

Members can pick up their gear at a slopeside valet location if they choose not to have it delivered, and there will be designated in-resort locations for boot pick up if delivery is not preferred.

 

Will I be able to swap out gear if I change my mind about the item I selected?

Yes, members will be able to swap out their gear with available inventory at the time of swap.

 

What is the My Epic Gear boot fitting process?

My Epic Gear will leverage 3D foot scan technology that each member can use via the My Epic app on their phone for the 2024/2025 winter season. Based on the scan, your boot and boot fit will be recommended, including custom insoles, to ensure the best possible fit.

 

Can my entire family participate in a membership?

My Epic Gear memberships are available for each member of the family. Child pricing will be announced prior to the 2024/2025 winter season.

 

Will My Epic Gear profile be stored for future seasons?

Yes, all of the information in your profile, including the gear that you used, will be stored and available if you choose to renew your membership in future seasons. This will ensure members can seamlessly select the gear that they enjoyed in previous seasons.
