What are Epic Friend Tickets? How many come with a Pass?

NEW for the 2025/26 winter season, season-long Pass Holders will receive 6-10 Epic Friend Tickets, which offer 50% off lift tickets at all of Vail Resorts’ 37 owned and operated resorts in North America.  

All eligible Passes come with six Epic Friend Tickets. In addition, guests who purchased an eligible season-long Pass on or before April 14, 2025, will receive an extra four Epic Friend Tickets. Epic Military and Epic Adaptive Pass Holders will receive six Epic Friend Tickets regardless of when they purchased, significantly upgrading their previous benefits. 

As we get closer to the beginning of the 2025/26 winter season, you will be able to login to your My Epic app or onto your Epic Pass account online to view the Epic Friend Tickets associated with your Pass.

Does the Epic Day Pass include Epic Friend Tickets?

No, Epic Day Pass is not eligible for Epic Friend Tickets. If you have a 2025/26 Epic Day Pass and want to upgrade to a Pass that is eligible for Epic Friend Tickets, chat us or call us at 970-754-0005.

 

What happened to Buddy and Ski With A Friend Tickets?

For the 2025/26 winter season, Epic Friend tickets will replace and significantly upgrade Buddy Tickets, a former Pass benefit that generally offered much lower savings on lift tickets and varied by resort. Epic Friend Tickets will always provide 50% off lift tickets at any of Vail Resorts’ 37 North American destinations. 

In addition to Epic Friend Tickets, we will still provide Ski With A Friend Tickets to eligible Pass Holders who already purchased eligible 2025/2026 passes in the Spring.  

  • Pass Holders who purchased an eligible season-long Pass on or before April 14, 2025 will be able to redeem six Ski With A Friend Tickets in addition to their 10 Epic Friend Tickets.
  • Pass Holders who purchased on or before May 27, 2025 will be able to redeem two Ski With A Friend Tickets in addition to their six Epic Friend Tickets. Epic Military Pass Holders will have all their Ski With A Friend Tickets upgraded to Epic Friend Tickets.

Ski With A Friend Tickets will expire after the 2025/26 winter season. 

 

How do Epic Friend Tickets compare to Ski With A Friend Tickets? Which one is better to use first if I received both benefits with my Pass?

Epic Friend Tickets always offer a better deal, so to benefit from the most savings, we recommend using them before your Ski With A Friend Tickets. 

Ski With A Friend Tickets are discounted single day lift tickets that offer slight savings compared to the standard advance lift ticket discount. This discount varies according to the daily rate at each resort, whereas Epic Friend Tickets always provide a set discount of 50% off window rate lift tickets. 

 

At which resorts can I use Epic Friend Tickets?

Epic Friend Tickets can be used at any of Vail Resorts’ 37 North American destinations. They cannot be used at Vail Resorts’ owned and operated resorts in Switzerland or Australia, or at any partner resorts on the Epic Pass.

 

Who can use my Epic Friend Tickets?

Anyone! Pass Holders can give Epic Friend Tickets to friends and family. 

 

Can I use an Epic Friend Ticket on a restricted peak day?

Yes, Epic Friend Tickets can be used for days when your Pass might be restricted due to holidays, or at one of Vail Resorts 37 North American resorts where your Pass does not have access. 

 

Can the same friend/person use multiple Epic Friend Tickets?

Yes, the same friend can use more than one Epic Friend Ticket during the season. 

 

Can an Epic Friend Ticket be used any day of the season, even if the accompanying Pass Holder has a blackout day on that day?

Yes, Epic Friend Tickets can be used any day at any of the season at Vail Resorts’ 37 North American destinations, including on Peak Restricted Dates. 

If a Pass Holder’s Pass does not include lift access on a given day due to Peak Restricted Dates, the Pass Holder will be required to use an Epic Friend Ticket for themselves and can also share an additional one with their friends to give them both access for that day.  

 

What are Ski With A Friend tickets? How many come with a Pass?

Ski With A Friend Tickets are discounted single day lift tickets offering savings slightly greater than the standard advance lift ticket discount. The discount varies according to the daily rate at each resort.

If you bought an eligible Pass on or before April 14, 2025, you will receive six Ski With A Friend Tickets. If you bought your eligible Pass between April 15, 2025 and May 27, 2025, you will receive two Ski With A Friend Tickets.

As we get closer to the beginning of the 2025/26 winter season, you will be able to login to your My Epic app or onto your Epic Pass account online to view the Ski With A Friend Tickets associated with your Pass.

I am a Pass Holder. How do I send a friend an Epic Friend Ticket or Ski With A Friend Ticket?

Epic Friend Tickets and Ski With A Friend Tickets will be available for purchase online and in-person at the window this season at any of Vail Resorts’ 37 North American destinations. However, we highly encourage individuals to purchase online.

To purchase online, a Pass Holder must sign into “My Epic Account” at epicpass.com, click on the “Passes” tab, and navigate to the “Benefit Tickets” section. You can select the specific day and resort for use after you click on “Buy for a Friend.”

 

I am a Pass Holder. How do my friends pick up their Epic Friend Tickets or Ski With A Friend Tickets, and do I have to be there when they pick up their ticket / scan at the lift?

There are two ways to redeem:

  1. In person at the resort ticket window: At the resort ticket window, the Pass Holder must be present and display an active Pass to pick up a physical Epic Friend Ticket / Ski With A Friend Ticket.
  2. Through Mobile Pass / Mobile Lift Tickets in the My Epic app: Epic Friend Tickets / Ski With A Friend Tickets are compatible with Mobile Pass / Mobile Lift Tickets in the My Epic app, so you can head straight to the lift together. When at the lift line, the Pass Holder must scan their Pass first, which will then automatically activate the Mobile Epic Friend Ticket / Ski with A Friend Ticket, which can be scanned following.

 

How do I see how many Epic Friend or Ski With A Friend Tickets I have?

To see the number of Epic Friend or Ski With A Friend Tickets available, a Pass Holder must sign into “My Epic Account” at EpicPass.com, click on the “Passes” tab, and navigate to the “Benefit Tickets” section. A quick summary of available benefit tickets is also shown on the home screen of the My Epic App.

 

I’ve sent Epic Friend Tickets / Ski With A Friend Tickets to my friends, why are they still showing available?

The available tickets in your account do not change until a purchase is made by your friend.

 

Can I purchase an Epic Friend or Ski With A Friend Ticket the same day I want to ski or ride?

Yes, you may purchase Epic Friend or Ski With A Friend Tickets for same-day use, online or in-person. The Pass Holder must also be present and display an active pass in order to either pick up the friend’s physical Ticket at a Lift Ticket Window or activate their friend’s Mobile Ticket in the My Epic App.

 

How do I know when my friends have bought their tickets?

The Pass Holder will receive an email when a ticket associated with their account has been redeemed. You will also see the available tickets in your account change once a purchase is made. In the event the Pass Holder does not have an email on file, an email will be sent to the Head of Household for the account. If you or your friends are utilizing the My Epic App, a notification will display a confirmation of the purchase status of the Epic Friend/Ski With a Friend ticket.

 

Can I cancel a ticket after I have emailed it?

No, a ticket cannot be canceled after you have emailed it. However, it is not removed from your account until the ticket has been purchased online. If your plans change, the lift ticket is refundable once purchased (terms apply).

 

Is my Epic Friend or Ski With A Friend lift ticket refundable?

If your plans change, your lift ticket is refundable (terms apply). Any unused days on your lift ticket are fully refundable until 5 PM MT on the last day of your ticket. For example, if you buy a ticket dated February 1st-5th, you have until 5pm MT on February 5th to request a refund for any unused days on your ticket.

To request a refund for unused tickets or for a partially used ticket interrupted due to injury or illness, you need to do one of the following:

  • Visit the resort ticket window no later than the last day of your ticket
  • Contact Guest Services at (970)-754-0005 by no later than 5 PM MT on the last day of your ticket
Refund requests received after 5 PM MT on the last day of your ticket will not be honored, except in certain circumstances (See terms for full details)

 

Where are my Bring A Friend tickets for my Whistler Blackcomb pass?

Eligible Whistler Blackcomb Passes have a different type of benefit ticket called Bring A Friend tickets.

Currently, Bring A Friend tickets for Whistler Blackcomb are not available within My Account. Please visit the ticket window at the resort to redeem Bring A Friend tickets. Learn More about Bring a Friend tickets.

Can my friend apply their Epic Friend Ticket value toward a Pass for next season?

Yes, qualifying guests that ski on an Epic Friend Ticket during the 2025/26 season can apply 100% of the cost of a single ticket toward an Epic Pass for the 2026/27 season for a limited time. 2025/26 Pass Holders are not eligible for this promotion. Full promotion details will be available once 2026/27 Passes are on sale.

 

What types of Passes can friends apply a redeemed Epic Friends Ticket toward for the 2026/27 season?

Qualifying friends can apply the full value of a single Epic Friend Ticket towards eligible season-long Passes including Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass and regional passes such as Northeast Value Pass. The full list of eligible passes will be available once 2026/27 Passes are on sale. 2025/26 Pass Holders are not eligible for this promotion.

 

How do you redeem the value of an Epic Friend Ticket when purchasing a 2026/27 Pass?

Qualifying guests will receive a promo code via email once 2026/27 Epic Passes are on sale. They can apply this promo code online during the checkout process, or redeem their Epic Friend Ticket when purchasing a Pass at a ticket window or over the phone.
